DIMAPUR, MAY 15

THE NSF has once again reminded the government to clarify its stand on the decision of the Inspection Committee Report it constituted to study the status of three para-medical institutions of the State. The study was carried out to clarify the doubts and confusion of the students and the general public on the issue.
The Federation through several representations and memorandum had earlier urged the government to inspect the Indian Institute of Para Medical Technology (IIPMT) Kohima, Institute of Management of Medical Research, Health Science and School of Nursing (IMMRHSSN) Singrijan and Para Medical Training Institute (PMTI) Industrial Estate Dimapur on recognition issue of these institutes.
Stating that the Directorate of Higher Education and the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare have been shifting the responsibility for recognition of these para-medical institutions at the initial stage of imbroglio, the NSF, in a release issued by its vice president Joseph Ngouri today, expressed surprise that the Directorate of Technical Education, Nagaland, which interfered on the issue in the middle, created confusion amongst the entire student community as to which is the competent authority to recognize or de-recognize the para-medical institutions. It also sought to know whether these departments are serious enough in bringing out a clear cut direction as their stand has already hampered the career of many students.
The Federation, therefore, has urged the government to stop the blame game and expedite the matter as per the decision taken at the joint departmental meeting convened by the Chief Secretary on May 16 to solve the long-pending issue as it has greatly victimized the life and career of many students.
It further cautioned the institutions which do not fulfill the required criteria and guidelines laid down by the department concerned during admissions.
Due to the delay tactics of the government in bringing out a clear direction, the Institute of Management and Medical Research, Health Science and School of Nursing (IMMRHSSN) Singrijan has issued advertisements in local dailies on May 7 and subsequently on May 14 inviting admission for various courses. Therefore, the Federation has urged the general public to be more vigilant and has advised the aspirant candidates not to seek admission until further notification from the government.
The NSF also said it came to know that the government has directed the Directorate of Technical Education to serve show cause notice to these institutions and therefore appealed to these institutions to withhold the admission process until further notification was served.
In the case of proceeding with the admission process, the institutions shall be solely responsible, it warned.
