DIMAPUR, MARCH 13

The NSCN-IM has offered its assistance to any investigation team on the March 5 Dimapur incident. “We are prepared and open to assist any investigation team in the search for truth and justice to this whole unfortunate incident that should have never happened,” said the NSCN-IM in a statement. According to the press note, the Naga outfit said the Joint Council meeting of the NSCN-IM on March 12 deliberated on the current development and is seriously concerned of the recent spurt of unwanted incidents in Dimapur.
The statement then said it unequivocally condemning the rape of women or for that matter any kind of humiliation, deprivation and exploitation of women dignity and rights around the world. “We also equally condemn any sort of mob violence disrespecting the rule of law which are indispensable to the collective pursuit of peaceful co-existence. Taking law in their own hands and undermining the rationality of investigation to any case is not acceptable and therefore must put a full stop to it,” it stated.
“If we re-introspect, we shall realize that some of our people have a tendency to succumb to mob culture which is detrimental to the image and reputation of a political Naga who is trying his best self to prove to the world that he is capable of joining the civilized comity of nations. Justice must prevail and we must demonstrate ourselves to the world that such barbaric actions by goons and thugs have no social sanctions and must not be allowed in the future,” the NSCN-IM added.
It is advisable to the social media as well as the print media to be more responsible while disseminating information. It is required that verified facts are reported and avoid hearsay information because public opinion is shaped by such media report, it further stated.
Those who are trying to make a political mileage out of this sad incident must think twice because it is the image and reputation of Naga who is in question and not the so called present Nagaland state government that comes and go. Therefore every Naga must come together in one mind to eradicate forever the mob culture which is totally foreign to the social ethos of the Nagas, the NSCN-IM statement added.
