Dimapur, Feb 25: Reaffirming its commitment to safeguard the nation from internal and external threats, NSCN (IM) has accused one Benedict Daniel, former Naga army in the rank of sergeant, of indulging in anti-national activities with intent to wage war against the nation.

MIP statement of the NSCN (IM) said a team was sent to investigate the matter and raid was conducted at his residence in Maram on February 23 evening. While Benedict managed to escape, it said the investigating team recovered one (AK series rifle and two.22 rifles along with live ammo from his residence. From the seizure, it deduced Benedict Daniel as a mercenary or to raise a private army, if not proven otherwise.

In the aftermath of the raid, it alleged that supporters of BJP candidate Francis Ngajokpa of Tadubi Constituency ransacked and destroyed houses of six national workers in the presence of wives and children.

While condemning the incident, it stated that if Benedict Daniel fails to turn himself to the regional authorities for clarifications to prove his innocence within 24 hours, he himself is to be blamed. It further cautioned everyone not to harbour a fugitive adding anyone found violating the azha will be answerable to the Naga people.
