Dimapur, Aug. 1 (EMN): As a mark of protest against the government of India (GoI) for keeping silent on Framework Agreement (FA) even after six years, the NSCN (IM) has called for 12 hours total closure of shops and business establishments in Nagalim from 12 midnight of August 2 till 12 noon on August 3.

A NSCN (IM)’s statement through its MIP appealed to the Naga people, public and business groups to show solidarity to the Framework Agreement and cooperate for the success of the shut down. It also sought cooperation from the regional authorities and civil society organisations (CSOs).

NSCN (IM) lamented that the historic Framework Agreement, which was signed on August 3, 2015, between the government of India (GoI) and the NSCN (IM) was yet to see the light of fulfilment as committed by the GoI. With no positive response from the GOI even after six years, NSCN (IM) stated that Nagas cannot be taken for a ride in this manner.

“While Naga people appreciate the government of India for recognising the historical and political rights of the Nagas by signing the FA, the matter should not end there. What had been committed should be taken to a logical conclusion,” NSCN (IM) said.

It further stated that NSCN (IM) attached high political value to FA as a fulfilment of Naga people’s historical and political rights.
