Dimapur, March 31 (EMN): The Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) has felicitated H Viputo Yeptho, a 4th semester student of B.Sc (Botany) and member of Red Ribbon Club from the Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, during a programme held at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, on March 31.

Viputo Yeptho emerged as the national champion of the 2nd national level Red Ribbon Club quiz competition held on March 24 at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala, Tripura.

Speaking at the felicitation programme, the project director of NSACS Dr. K Vikato Kinimi, congratulated the winner for bringing laurels to the state in particular and to the Northeast region in general. While highlighting the high HIV prevalence rate in the state especially among the young people, he encouraged the students to join the Red Ribbon Club movement and be the agent of change in order to reduce HIV rate in the state. He also thanked the college principal, Dr. Lily Sema, RRC Nodal officer, and the faculty members for their continuous support and cooperation towards the fight against HIV/AIDS in the state.

H ViputoYeptho was felicitated with certificate and a cash prize of INR 1 lakh.

An update from NSACS stated that the second prize was won by Rajasthan and the third prize Maharashtra.

In his acceptance speech, Viputo Yeptho,  expressed gratitude to the NSACS, college authority, friends and family for their prayer support throughout the event. He has particularly thanked Yashiyala Imchen from Mokokchung College of Teacher’s Education, who had been his quiz partner in the sub-regional and regional level RRC quiz competition.

The programme was attended by about 900 participants comprising NSACS officials, faculty, staff and the students of the Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
