DIMAPUR — The Nokhu Range Students’ Union (NRSU) has condemned the October 6 incident in Noklak town where Chillia T of Nokhu village, a student of Class 10 at Government High School, Noklak village, was subjected to “an unprovoked physical assault.”

In a condemnation note, the NRSU said the attack was allegedly carried out by Sulem, son of Putsong; Thangpong, son of Leyang and Ngansai, son of Pukha, all hailing from Thang village.

“The Union strongly condemns this senseless act of violence and holds the perpetrators accountable for resorting to such extreme measures without any justification or wrongdoing by an innocent individual.

“In a civilized society, such act that undermines peaceful coexistence must be denounced by all conscientious citizens,” the union said.

Further, the union said that since Noklak serves as a symbol and reflection of the Khiamniungan community, particularly in the realm of education, it is imperative that the district administration, law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders ensure a safe and harmonious environment for all students and the public, regardless of their diverse backgrounds.
