Dimapur, December 11

The Nagaland Public Works Departments has urged the Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) to call off the proposed bandh along NH-29 on December 15, saying the decision of the NCSU to call bandh during this festive season of the year will cause a lot of inconvenience to the public, which in turn may have an adverse impact on the State.
Er. V. Kehie Engineer-in-Chief NPWD in a press note said, the long awaited work for the 4 laning of Dimapur-Kohima Road is now in the tendering stage.
“Although the same project was announced twice in the past, it could not be taken up due to various reasons. It is heartening that the project shall be materialized this time. The Tendering process and its modalities are carried out as per the laid down Guidelines of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.”
While appreciating the demand of the Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union (NCSU) to break-up the project into smaller packages so that the State local contractors can also participate in the tendering process, the department is of the view that the award of the work should not be delayed, and works should start off at the earliest.
