Dimapur, Feb. 14: Naga People’s Front (NPF) has termed it unfortunate that the people are made to suffer for the past 2 weeks because of the ‘unwanted situation created by some few individuals under the shadow of the tribal hohos.’ NPF Media and Press Bureau claimed that with the passage of days, Naga people are being informed as to who are the men behind in planning and executing the present crisis.
It cited local newspaper reports which revealed the involvement of Neiphiu Rio and Imkong L Imchen, and few others in the present crisis. It however said the most credible source of information of their involvement was the publication of the letter purportedly written to the NPF President by 4 MLAs demanding revocation of suspension order of Rio and Imchen from the party.
‘It is indeed shocking that these 4 MLAs have the courage to say that if the suspension order is revoked, the present situation will be normalised. It is interesting to note that these 4 MLA’s have gone to the extent of asserting that if Rio is reinstated as the Chief Minister of the State, the present situation will be contained. From this letter itself one can conclude that it is not by any organisations but few politicians who, led by Rio, engineered the present crisis for their selfish political interest,’ NPF alleged.
NPF asserted that the present crisis was not a sudden outbreak out of the ULB election but it was planned long before to destabilise and topple the present government.
It cited instances in 2015, when Rio tried to stage a coup against the present government by keeping 22 MLAs under his custody at his resort at Dimapur, wherein Imchen ‘the so-called Spokesperson of the Sovima Camp’ on January 11, 2015, gave directive to government servants not to clear files on the orders of the present government, which was not adhered to.
‘Today, since they could neither convince nor kidnap the Hon’ble MLAs, they have started to misuse of the esteemed Tribal Hohos to topple the Government!,’ the statement claimed.
It further went on to said that having realised that they have no moral or legal rights to give directives to the government servants anymore, they have chosen to lock the government offices, which is a last ditch attempt to grab power by force and not through democratic means.
