Dimapur, May 22 (EMN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has launched a scathing attack on the Opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF), stating that the party has exposed its policies rife with “double standard” and “double speak” on the eve of vote counting of the Lok Sabha elections. It stated that the NPF is in the list of political parties that attended both the meetings of the NDA and the opposition parties held in Delhi on Tuesday, May 21.

“The opposition parties headed by the Congress party organised a meeting of all non-BJP and non-NDA political parties at Delhi on Tuesday and in the list of attendees and political parties, it is seen that the NPF party was represented by its Secretary General and Hon’ble MP (Rajya Sabha) Mr. K. G. Kenye and his PRO Dr. S. R. Nareshram with their signatures appended at serial numbers 15 and 20,” read a statement from the NDPP.

“On the same day the BJP National President Mr. Amit Shah had organised a meeting cum dinner of all NDA partners in the presence of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi where the NDPP, a constituent of NEDA was represented by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Neiphiu Rio. What comes as a surprise is that in the list of NEDA partners, who attended the meeting released by Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Convener of NEDA, it is seen that the NPF was present and was represented by its Manipur unit president.

“This coming at a time when the NPF have publicly declared to withdraw their support to the BJP in Manipur is not only obnoxious but should be dubbed as the most shameful political gimmickry in recent times,” it added.

The NDPP has questioned the opposition party if it doesn’t have an iota of self-esteem and with what audacity it decided to face the BJP whom it hurled insult after insult for more than one year. It has also ridiculed the decision of the NPF to pull out of the BJP alliance in Manipur after the counting is over on May 23 after having attended the meetings by the NDA as well as the opposition parties in Delhi.

“How much more blatant can the NPF become in openly declaring that they want to cut the cake and eat it too? Is this the kind politics that the NPF is going to give to the Naga people?” it asked.

“The NDPP is flabbergasted and shocked at the actions of the opposition NPF and words cannot describe the level of lies and deceit that they have been feeding the people. It is now for the people to judge whether the politics of the NPF is rife with double speak or not now that the documents are in the public domain for all too see,” it added.
