Congress members to act as MLAs, represent constituencies, says NPCC President

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), has stated that the state is run by an opposition-less government

Mokokchung — Supongmeren Jamir, president of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), has stated that since the state is run by an opposition-less government, the Congress is the only party to check the government

He added that while almost all Congress MLAs disappeared in 2015 and Congress could not produce an MLA, NPCC members will act as MLAs for the party and represent their constituencies.

The NPPC president, who was speaking at the Tsüngremmung celebration organised by the District Congress Committee (DCC) Mokokchung on Thursday at their treasurer’s residence at Alongmen Ward, Mokokchung, urged the congress workers to work tirelessly in order to win the upcoming parliamentary election.

He said that the working system of Congress will undergo a paradigm shift, starting with doing away with the hypocrisy mindset and moving to straight forward talk, and mentioned that whoever cannot stand in line with Congress’ discipline and principles should voluntarily step down, and that he too is not immune to this condition.  

He stated that positions in Congress should not be accepted solely for position purposes, but rather to discharge responsibility and work hard so that an MLA from their respective jurisdiction is elected.

The NPPC president also informed that as parliamentary elections are approaching, Congress has set up a committee as a study team to file a capable candidate who will represent the aspiration of the Naga people, and that till now, the NPCC has received applications from four intending candidates, and the screening team will do the scrutiny at the earliest.

He also instructed the Congress workers to appoint polling level agents at every polling station at A/C level and impart intense training to the polling level agents.

He went on to say that both the Congress and the BJP are national parties, but that the BJP’s foundation is RSS and will be driven by RSS ideology, whereas the Congress foundation is embedded in secularism and liberalism.

Furthermore, Congress’ former candidate and NPCC member Bendangkokba stated that if the party’s grass root level foundation is strong and instills the mindset of work culture, they will be able to overcome and prevail in whatever ordeal and turbulence they face.

Short speeches were also delivered on the occasion by former candidates. NPCC members P Senti Tzudir, Toshipokba, Moa Emchen, and Imkongyanger also spoke at the event, and Lanusanen, DCC executive member, emphasised the significance of the day
