Northeast Olympic Games: Nagaland in 5th place with 16 gold medals

Dimapur, Nov. 15 (EMN): Nagaland added four more gold medals to its tally at the ongoing Northeast Olympic Games in Meghalaya on Tuesday, making it the fifth state in the overall medal chart.
Nagaland now has 16 gold, 14 silver, and 37 bronze medals.

Venuze Dawhuo secured gold for Nagaland in the +73kg Judo; Neiketoulie Belho in 4×100 m race, Tsuchoi T in the 5000m race and Nekhoto Tunyi, Rongsenmeren, Vivor kesieze and Neiketoulie Belho – 4×100 meters relay race (men).

The best athlete award for Above-20 men was awarded Neiketoulie Belho for winning the 100m and long jump. Meanwhile, Nagaland’s Niansai T was awarded the best athlete among Under-20 women for winning the 800m and 1500m.

Further, Tsuknungakum Jamir won silver in the men’s 109 kg weightlifting category.

Manipur overtook Assam for the top spot on Tuesday with 33 more gold medal additions, thereby increasing its gold tally to 78, along with impressive 71 silver and 72 bronze medals.

Assam dropped to second place with 75 gold medals, followed by Arunachal Pradesh with 38, and Meghalaya 34.
