Northeast India catching up on connectivity, says MoS Pratima Bhoumik
DIMAPUR— Emphasising on the crucial role of connectivity as the primary catalyst for development, Union Minister of State (MoS) for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik, on Tuesday said a substantial progress has been made on the same in the Northeast region over the past nine years.
She also highlighted the changing landscape of development in the region, mentioning that “significant developments” were mainly witnessed in mainland cities in the past.
Now, the Northeast region has its own AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), indicating a positive shift towards local development, Bhoumik said while addressing the 6th Rozgar Mela held at IMC Hall in Dimapur.
On the occasion, the MoS gave away appointment letters to 48 newly recruited individuals from the Northeast region in various central government departments including NABARD, railways, postal department, and public sector undertaking banks.
She also informed that the newly appointed individuals would get the opportunity to receive training through the Karmayogi portal.
Bhoumik urged the recruits to collaborate and work collectively to elevate India to new heights while informing that a total of 70,126 individuals from across the country received appointment letters on Tuesday.
