Northeast horsepower challenge from October 12

KOHIMA — The 9th edition of the Northeast horsepower challenge will be held at Agri Expo Site, 4th Mile in Diphupar from October 12 to the 14th.

Organised by the Nagaland Adventure Club (NAC), in collaboration with Nexa Jimmy, this year’s edition would feature an addition of an autorickshaw rally and stock category alongside other categories of events which have been going on for the past years.

Informing this during a press conference at De Oriental in Kohima on Wednesday, NAC president, Burakum, informed that participants from the Northeastern states including Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland have registered so far. He added that participants from Arunachal Pradesh are also expected to register soon.

He disclosed that about 25 participants from Nagaland and seven from Meghalaya and Assam have registered for participation in various categories.

The last date for registration has been fixed on October 9.

The competition includes an SUV category (four wheels), open category (all types of vehicles), rookie category (newcomers), ladies category and stock category, where no changes are made to the vehicle and would be used as it is since the purchase, he informed.

It was informed that the main rally would be held on October 13 and 14, while the autorickshaw rally would be held on the first and the second day at the same venue.

The president further informed that an approximate budget amounting to INR 8 to 10 lakh has been set for organising the event. The prize pool would be INR 5 lakh.

The organisers further informed that the three-day event would be held from 9 am to 4 pm.
