Kohima, July 7 (EMN):
Ministry of Home Affairs has advised the north-eastern states and union territories to strictly monitor the Covid-19 situation at district and city-level and take timely corrective measures, wherever any early sign of surge is noticed.

The advisory was given following a meeting chaired by the Union Home secretary on Wednesday to review the Covid-19 situation in all the NE states and UTs.

Out of 73 districts in the country with case positivity rate above 10 percent, 46 districts were in NE states, it stated, adding that strict containment measures need to be taken as per extant guidelines.

For those districts identified with high case positivity and higher bed occupancy, states/UTs may consider imposing restrictions in a calibrated manner, it added.

It further iterated to enforce strict Covid-appropriate behaviour and advised to involve political leaders and civil society organisations.

The meeting also discussed current status and trends on the active cases, case fatality rate (CFR), case positivity rate and vaccination status with respect to all the UTs and NE states.

Further, the Union Home secretary emphasised on following the five-fold strategy of test-track-treat-vaccinate and Covid-appropriate behaviour, as has been laid out in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) order dated June 29, 2021.
