North East Games 2024: Probal Konwar, Ambrika Narzary win gold in long jump

KOHIMA — As athletic events of the 3rd North East Games continued at the IG Stadium in Kohima on Friday, Probal Konwar of Assam clinched gold in the men’s long jump with a leap of 6.95m, while Mayengbam Alken of Manipur won silver with a jump of 6.85m and Assam’s Jwngsar Basumatar bronze (6.83m).

In women’s long jump, Ambrika Narzary of Assam won gold with a jump of 5.97m, while Rimpi Buragohain, also from Assam, bagged silver with a leap of 5.96m and Mousumi Deb of Tripura won bronze with a jump of 4.76m.

In athletics medal standings so far, Assam leads with 13 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze, followed by host Nagaland with 7 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze, while Manipur is in the third position with 2 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze.

Meghalaya is in the fourth place with 2 gold, 4 silver and 8 bronze, while Sikkim is the fifth position with 2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze; followed by Tripura with 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze; Arunachal Pradesh 1 silver and 1 bronze; while Mizoram is yet to open its account.
