No respite for commuters as NH-29 Dzüdza stretch to remain closed till Sep. 2
DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima has issued an order notifying that the National Highway-29 near the Dzüdza Bridge will be closed from August 31 to September 2, between 6 am and 7 pm daily.
The affected stretch, located between chainage KM 163+980 and KM 164+030 (RHS), is undergoing essential repairs following earlier damage. While partial restoration has been achieved, authorities have deemed a full closure necessary for the safety of commuters and the efficient completion of the work, the DC said.
To minimise disruption to essential services, heavy vehicles carrying essential commodities will be granted passage between 7 pm and 6 am on the specified dates. However, heavy passenger vehicles, including buses, will not be permitted until further orders.
Stating that the affected stretch of NH-29 is currently unsuitable for small and medium vehicles, the DC advised commuters to continue following previous orders and utilise alternate routes and plan their travel accordingly.
Further, “in the interest of safety and restoration of the NH-29, the general public is requested to extend cooperation,” the order stated.
