KOHIMA, APRIL 14

[dropcap]G[/dropcap]overnment-run schools in Chingmei area, in Tuensang district, are functioning without subject teachers for Hindi, science and mathematics.
This disturbing fact has been brought to notice by the Chingmei Mutli Wedoshi Thangjam, Chingmei Student’s Union and New Chingmei Students’ Union, through a press release. The three pressure groups, according to their press release, had on April 8 last inspected the “GPS Chingmei, GHS New Chingmei and Medical Sub Centre New Chingmei.” They discovered that there was “shortage of Hindi teacher” in the government primary school of Chingmei. The government high school of new Chingmei, also, they found, had no subject teachers for science and mathematics “since from the establishment of school.”
In this regard, the organizations have appealed the “department of School Education to deploy the required teacher” to the respective schools. Other government employees posted to the area have also been told to be ‘sincere’ in their duties.
Even during 2013, an organization called the Chingmei Mütli Wedoshi Thangjam had demanded Hindi teachers for schools in Chingmei village.
The government middle school, government primary school, Christian English School, and government high school of the village had no Hindi teachers, the organization had stated in a local newspaper in 2013.
