Dimapur, July 3 (EMN): The Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer of Kohima, Rajesh Soundarajan has on Monday sent out an official notification that no government official who are assigned electoral duties for the ensuing by-election to 10 Northern Angami -1 AC will be exempted from the said duties.
The order stated that “as per the provisions under Section 159 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, Govt. officials are being requisitioned and assigned different duties to ensure smooth conduct of polls. Accordingly, all concerned are informed that no exemption shall be entertained except under unavoidable exigencies.”
The by-election for the constituency is scheduled to be held on July 29, 2017.
