Dimapur, October 16 : The NNC / PRN and the NSCN / GPRN (Reformation) have reportedly merged. A press release from the publicity wing of the latter on Sunday informed of the development.

A ceremony to mark the merger of the NSCN/ GPRN (R) and the NNC / PRN) was conducted at the ‘ceasefire office’ in Mon town on October 15, the press release stated.

“The president NSCN / GPRN (Reformation) Y. Wangtin Naga warmly welcomed the leaders and workers of NNC/ PRN at the merger programme. In his speech at the merger programme, the president said the need of the hours for the Nagas is to seek one another and fragmented Naga political groups should be united to ensure single and unified forces,” the press release quoted him as having stated during the event.
According to the press release, the speaker recalled ‘the past glorious days of the Naga people under the banner of NNC from 1940s till 1980’s where they stood collectively with unison voice but unified force had been fragmented by the confusion cloud of Shillong Accord of 1975.’

The president of the NSCN/GPRN (R) has appreciated the decision of Mr. O. Chingmak Chang, president of the NNC/PRN and Dr. Amento, general secretary of the NNC/PRN “for taking the right step to merge with the NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) in the interest of the Naga cause,” the press release added.
