NNC (PB) impeaches president Z Royim

DIMAPUR — In a major development, the central cabinet comprising of kilonsers, tatars and regional authorities of NNC (PB) collectively with military wing headed by C-in-C, Kiutsangkiu and Lt. Gen. Kirenkiu have, after much deliberation in a meeting onMay 14 and 20, endorsed with absolute majority impeached its president, Z Royim.

The NNC (PB) stated that it has taken the decision in response to serious allegations against the president for violating yezhabo part (III) Article 22 and 29 and April 22, 2023, meeting resolution clause 2 and 3.

Appoints acting president

Meanwhile, following his impeachment as contained in Article 30 part (III), NNC (PB) has appointed its vice president, Akaho Swu, as the acting president till further notice.

It accused Royim of authorising unlawful activities and sactioned directives under the influence of an individual, who conspired him to terminate cabinet officials. It added that he left the cabinet by himself and set up his own cabinet without the consent and support of central cabinet, the military wing or the regional authorities.

“This action of his has contravened the structure of government and is the very reason for many splinter groups that have emerged under his presidentship over the year. He is report to have engaged in venal activity and has been an unreliable leader with no ethics and professionalism,” NNC (PB) said.

Report stated that the step taken was a reflection of unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law, principles of fairness and adherence to the law and ensuring accountability within the government structure.

“No individual regardless of position, is exempt from the standards set forth to safeguard the ideals of our government,” it added.

It informed that though the officials are changed, the platform still remains the same with visions and goals committed for the greater cause of the Nagas.

Change of nomenclature

NNC (PB) stated the platform would now function and operate with the formerly used nomenclature ‘United Government of Nagaland’ (UGN/NNC-PB) and not NNC (PB) Royim as he is no longer part of the government. It also resolved not to use any individual’s name in the nomenclature of the platform.

Further NNC (PB) urged all citizens, officials and stakeholders to continue their support and cooperation during this period of transition saying the government remain dedicated to advancing the well being and prosperity of the nation.

It further warned against any individual and group that might try to create factions within the organisations using nefarious schemes in order to gain leadership control over the organizations. The government also warned of stern action against any individual collecting tax or donation under its banner.
