President of Naga National Council (NNC), Adinno Phizo, today reiterated vision of the father of the Naga nation AZ Phizo “to be a man among men and to be a nation among nations.”
Commemorating the 26th death anniversary of AZ Phizo, father of the Naga nation, on April 30, NNC president, Adinno, said he led the Naga people like a shepherd who cared for his people to the end, adding he condemned no Naga who went astray. She said his courage, determination and trust in God to save his country was never in doubt because he knew the right would prevail sooner or later for the Nagas.
She recounted that from his early youth, Phizo always wanted Nagas to socialize with one another for which he started the Naga Club in 1921. Stating that nationalism was not yet important at that time because the people have freedom in the country, she however said his far-sightedness brought the Nagas as a nation only after the change in the world situation. It was on March 22, 1956, Federal Government of Nagaland was established and motivated the Nagas assert their own right.
Adinno also asserted that though far away from home, Phizo was always with his people in spirit till his last days.
