Medical college will begin once NMC gives permit — Kikheto Sema

Commissioner and Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Y Kikheto Sema, on Tuesday, said the department is working on war footing to ensure that the academic session of the first medical college in the state starts from July-August 2023.

He stated this while addressing the Jan Aushadhi Diwas event at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK).

 Sema said the college will begin ‘once a letter of permission is accorded by the National Medical Council’.

The official maintained that ‘in response to the show cause notice, we have sent 1st and 2nd Assurance letters and affidavit on February 7 and March 6’.

He added the department is hoping to fulfill all the conditions by May 31, 2023 and sought support from all concerned.
