DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) lauded the Nagaland government, administration and police department for their support and commitment to safeguarding the community’s values and traditions.
In a press release, the forum stated that it appreciates the efforts to address concerns surrounding the “Gau Dhwaj Sthapna Bharat Yatra” and that the members acknowledge this initiative may be perceived as insensitive to their cultural practices.
“Our community’s tradition of consuming beef on various occasions is an integral part of our heritage,” it said, adding that the forum’s position, as well as the government’s order, is not intended to disparage any religion. Instead, it aims to preserve the unique cultural identity of society.
