Nienu stresses on self-reliance for progress

Dimapur, Nov. 1 (EMN): Leader of NPF Legislature Party and co-chairman of UDA government, Kuzholuzo Nienu, on Tuesday asserted that if every individual is self-reliant and self-sustaining in the community, then there will be peace and harmony.

The NPF leader was speaking at the 2nd general body meeting of women self help group, Phek block level federation of Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) at Phek town hall, informed NPF press bureau in an update.

Expressing dismay that Nagas have become dependent and not hardworking, Nienu stressed the need for every individual to work for self- sustenance. He stated that unless each individual is self-reliant, then the society will never progress.

The NPF leader also expressed happiness that with the passage of time, Naga women are going at par with men folk and in many fields adding, women have overtaken men as they are more sincere and dedicated.

Stating that he was impressed to see improvement in status of womenfolk after introduction of self help groups, he lauded the various schemes and programmes provided by the government, particularly the SRLM, where many womenfolk are now sustaining the whole family through those programmes.

Exhorting the womenfolk, Nienu called upon them to put God first and work with honesty and dedication towards self reliance. He was also of the view that when the whole society is self-reliant, then the society will be corruption-free.

Dwelling on clean election, he said that it has to start from individual and community.

The DRDA project director, Razukhru D Vasa, informed that under NSRLM, many women have become independent and that many men folk are now dependent on women.

He also shared that NSRLM is one of the best programmes for the uplift of women. He also lauded the Phek block level federation consisting of 22 villages for utilising the schemes in a proper way.

Short speeches were also delivered by Zhalie Puro, ADPM NSRLM, Phek, and Heipeuding Ilunglung, BDO-cum-BMM NSRLM Phek.

Later in the afternoon, Nienu also unveiled the rostrum of the new playground at Phek Basa village.
