NHM review-cum-workshop on RMNCAH+N underway in Kohima
DIMAPUR — A two-day state level review-cum-workshop on Reproductive Maternal Neonate Child Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) got underway at the IDSP hall, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, on Tuesday.
Addressing the district representatives, Mission Director of National Health Mission (NHM), Dr. Akuo Sorhie, said that RMNCAH+N has been the back bone of the National Health Mission and of the department since its inception, an update from NHM Nagaland stated.
Sorhie said this was because of the sincerity and the dedication of the district programme officers and district programme management staffs. He also informed that the state’s performance indicators have seen a positive upward trend in NFHS-4 and 5 (as per the National Family Health survey).
However, the mission director mentioned that “we also need to do a lot of work in improving our critical key performance indicator like registration of first ANC, 4 ANC, institutional delivery, full immunisation etc., which needs our intervention in finding out the gaps and address them.”
She went on to inform that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had come up with RMNCAH+N with a holistic approach to ensure optimal health care to the mother and child. Towards this, she urged the district programme officers to make sure that all the activities are accorded equal importance.
The NHM mission director further expressed hope that the two-day workshop will give the participants an understanding of the status of “our key performance indicators under National Health Mission and enable us to decide all the critical action for way forward and understand the gaps and challenges faced and bring about ways to bridging the gaps.”
Sorhie further encouraged the officers present to rededicate themselves and work with genuine vigour and to give their best in achieving the targets.
Dr. Longri Kichu gave a presentation on the key performance indicator of the state which was followed by the district level performance presentation.
Earlier, welcoming the district RCH/immunisation officers and the district programme managers (NHM), Dr. Khelito Zhimomi, state programme officer, RMNCAH+N, said that the review-cum-workshop was organised with the objective to bring forward the district level problems, work on the best solution and take the programme forward. She exuded optimism that the districts will learn from one another the best practices.
The two-day workshop will deliberate on Anemia Mukt Bharat, SUMAN, Laqshya, MusQan, key activities under child health, high risk pregnancy (HRP) tracking, ePMSMA, RBSK and adolescents health, the update stated.
