DIMAPUR — IRCTC and NF Railway have announced that it would launch of the first Bharat Gaurav tourist train under Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat initiative, which would embark from Dibrugarh on May 27 next covering popular religious tourist circuits that includes Ayodhya, Shree Mata Vaishnodevi, Prayagraj, and Varanasi. This was announced by the chief supervisor of Tourism, Sawma Khobung, in the presence of Amritesh Kumar Singh, station manager of Dimapur, and GS Nganingkhui, chief supervisor of Tourism, during a press conference held at the Executive Lounge of Dimapur Railway Station on Tuesday.

The tour would last 10 nights and 11 days with passengers able to board and de-board at various stations such as Dibrugarh, Simaluguri, Mariani, Dimapur, Lumding, Guwahati, Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, New Coochbehar, New Jalpaiguri, Katihar, Barauni Jn, Hajipur, and Sonpur.

The train would consists of 14 coaches, comprise of eight LHB sleeper coaches and three AC III tier coaches along with a pantry car with a total capacity of 780 passengers including 200 seats for three AC and 580 for sleeper.

The booking for the train has now been opened and could be done both online and offline. The train would depart from Dibrugarh at 8 am on May 27 and reach Dimapur at 4:45 pm.

Officials informed that passengers would be provided with dedicated coaches or buses for off-board transfers and sightseeing. Throughout the trip, tourists would be escorted by dedicated tour escorts. They added that non-AC family hotel rooms would be provided for sleeper class passengers at the places of night stay, while AC accommodation in standard category hotels would be arranged for AC passengers.

The entire trip would cost per person approximately INR 20,850 and INR 31,135 inclusive of GST for sleeper class and AC passengers respectively.

Under the Bharat Gaurav Train scheme, Indian Railways is offering a discount of around 33% to promote rail tourism, the official informed.
