NFR signs MoU with ASTC for construction of second entry to Guwahati Railway Station
DIMAPUR — The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) for exchange of land to construct a 2nd entry to Guwahati Railway Station.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Assam Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and General Manager NFR, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, an update from the NFR informed.
The second entry which will be developed as a part of the Guwahati Station Redevelopment project, will provide easy accessibility to passengers and reduce traffic congestion within the city.
For the second entry, the land of ASTC at Paltan Bazar side, measuring 6682.50 square meters was found suitable for the project and in exchange, an equal money value of Railway land measuring 27843.75 square meters at North Jalukbari shall be handed over to ASTC.
Guwahati being the biggest city of the Northeast region, serves as the gateway to the northeastern states of India, while, the Guwahati Railway Station has been serving as the connectivity hub for the region.
