DIMAPUR — A one- day workshop on the roles and responsibilities of village-level child protection committee and strengthening of state SDG goals with village leaders was organised by National Foundation for India (NFI).
It was held in collaboration with Childline Dimapur and hosted by CAN Youth at Neisatuo Colony on Monday.
Alomi, Counsellor, Childline, Dimapur and Katini Eshena, District coordinator, NFI were the resource persons for the workshop.
During the workshop, Alomi spoke on Childline and 1098, which is a national emergency helpline service for children functioning 24×7 all over India.
She also encouraged the parents and children to reach out through this number in case of any issues.
She mentioned that Childline was first launched in Dimapur in 2011 and has dealt with many child cases. Later, it was launched in five other districts of Nagaland and it has been functioning actively, she said, according to an update.
She also said that Childline has also organised awareness programmes in different locations and also requested the community to share the information on 1098 in reporting the cases. Alomi encouraged the community to form a support group in the colony in order to identify the issues and problems faced by the child and the families; and through this group they can also support the child’s education, it added.
Meanwhile, Eshena spoke about the importance and relevance of sustainable development goals. She engaged the participants in activities in identifying the problems existing in their community and what steps should be taken to bring effective solutions to those problems in achieving the SDG vision 2030.
