NFHRCC urges govt. to expedite Trans Nagaland Expressway

Dimapur, April 24 (EMN): The Nagaland Foothills Road Co-ordination Committee (NFHRCC) held meetings with the leaders of Jalukie town, Ahthibung, Ikesingram village and Khelma Township repectively, during its visit to Khelma, Peren district, the last point of the proposed foothills road connectivity on April 22 and 23.

The NFHRCC team was accompanied by members of the Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC), Eastern Nagaland People’s Union, Dimapur (ENPUD), Central Nagaland Students’ Association (CNSA), Dimapur Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union (DENSU) and Young Nagas Action Committee, an update stated.

It stated that the committee along with the other frontal bodies urged the state government to expedite the Trans Nagaland Expressway (foothills road) project at the earliest.

It appealed to all the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme contractor firms ‘to complete the time bound works as scheduled without compromising with the quality workmanship’.

The committee also urged the respective village authorities to cooperate with the state government and the implementing agencies in accordance with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and ensure that no internal and external forces disturb the progress of the works.

Further, it appealed to the state government not to divert any leftover funds from the allocated amount of INR 20 crore till the project is successfully completed, and deploy all the proposed governmental personnel including the administrative and police personnel to Khelma administrative circle at the earliest.

The tour programme was hosted by the Nagaland Zeliang People’s Organisation(NZPO), it added.
