Dimapur, Sep. 18 (EMN): As a part of countrywide “Swachhta Hi Sewa” organised by Indian Railways. A massive cleanliness drive was initiated in five divisions of N F Railway i.e Katihar, Alipurduar ,Rangia, Lumding & Tinsukia. It started from Sep.15 and will conclude on Oct. 2. Chahatey Ram,General manager, N F Railway offered “Shramdaan” as part of ‘Swachhta hi Sewa’ abhiyaan at Kamakhya Railway station on Sep. 17, informed in press note
It further stated that, the objective of the campaign is to mobilise people and reinforce the “Jan Aandolan” for sanitation to contribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a Clean India. Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign will see large scale mobilisation of people from all walks of life to undertake shramdaan for cleanliness and construction of toilets and to make their environments free from open defecation.
Chahatey, said that swacchta should become a social movement and awareness about cleanliness and sanitation should reach every station. He also expect endeavour to maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the year over N F Railway.
Later, Chahatey awarded cash prize of Rs. 1000 Ramen Das and Safai Karmachari for displaying exemplary devotion to duty.
