NEZCC Dimapur organises border area programme

Dimapur, March 24 (EMN): North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur under Union ministry of Culture, govt. of India organised a two-day border area programme on the theme “Bridging the Border” at Sheanghah Chingnyu village and Chenmoho village (Indo-Myanmar border) in Mon district of Nagaland on March 21 and 22nd.

An update informed that the programme was organised in collaboration with the department of Art and Culture, government of Nagaland.

It said that on March 21, the programme was attended by Imliwabang Aier, EAC, Longshen (Mon), while Relise Sangtam, SDO (Civil) Chen (Mon) attended the event on March 22.

The highlights of the two-day programme included a Chhau/Chhou folk dance from Jharkhand, Jat Jatin and Jhijhia dances from Bihar, Tamang Selo dance from Sikkim and Wangala folk dance from Meghalaya. The local cultural troupes also presented their rich and vibrant folk songs.

 Altogether 182 Artistes from Jharkhand, Bihar, Sikkim, Meghalaya and Nagaland participated in the festival.

It may be mentioned that the northeastern states share international borders with China, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar and Bangladesh. Border area programme is organised by NEZCC Dimapur with an aim to promote cultural exchanges among people living along international border areas.
