Newman Higher Secondary School organises Science and Arts exhibition

DIMAPUR — With an objective to provide an opportunity for the students to exhibit their talents, skills, and creativity and widen their horizons on various subject matters, the Newman Higher Secondary School (NHSS) in Tobu under Mon district organised a Science and Arts exhibition-cum-inauguration of Science laboratory on September 15 at the school campus.

The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Tobu, Chuba Temjem, who attended the event as a special guest, encouraged the students to be more realistic and develop their skills through a creative approach. He also acknowledged the school for giving opportunity to the students to explore their creativity through the exhibition.

An update from the school stated that its principal, Rev. Fr. Anthony Samy, has lauded all the teachers and students for their tireless efforts towards making the programme a grand success. He thanked the department of Science and Technology for providing Science equipment and also acknowledged the contribution of Sangti Konyak, president of TASU; Shillen Jacob, president of TTSU; and A Bechung, budget analyst from Finance department, for their support in the establishment of the Science laboratory.

Special features of the exhibition included a display of models comprising rainwater harvesting, wireless power transfer system, working model of kidney, nuclear power plant, volcanic eruption, solar system and energy, windmill, water purification, hydroelectric project, solar power plant, stages of agriculture, layers of the atmosphere, solid waste management as well as the art gallery which showcased various historical monuments and heritage of the world including different Naga traditional ornaments, attires and handicrafts.

It stated that the special guest along with invitees inspected the exhibition and interacted with the students.

Later, the special guest inaugurated the Science laboratory in the presence of principal, teaching faculty, members of managing board, students and various civil society organisations of Tobu.

The report further stated that students and teachers from Bejing School, Government High School and GMS Tobu attended the programme.
