New town councilors of Peren district take oath
DIMAPUR — The newly elected members of Peren, Jalukie and Tening town councils took an oath of affirmation during a programme held at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office on Friday.
The deputy commissioner of Peren, Vineet Kumar, administered the oath of affirmation to the elected members in accordance with the Section 60A of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023, stated a DIPR report.
Speaking at the oath taking ceremony, Kumar congratulated the town councilors on behalf of district administration and described the occasion ‘historic’ as the urban local body (ULB) elections were held successfully after a gap of 20 years with 33% reservation for women for the first time. He encouraged the elected members to work sincerely for the development of their respective wards in particular and Peren district at large.
During the ceremony, Mireulung Sephe of NDPP was elected as chairperson and Hunganbo of NDPP was elected as deputy chairperson of Peren Town Council (PTC), while Hadi of NDPP was elected as chairperson and Tingba Hegui of NDPP was elected as deputy chairperson of Jalukie Town Council (JTC) and Lungchui of NDPP was elected as chairperson and Pauzin Rentta of Independent was elected as deputy chairperson of Tenign Town Council (TTC).
