Dimapur, March 30 (EMN): As part of the 3rd phase of New India @75 awareness campaign, District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) and the District Tuberculosis Officer of Dimapur conducted awareness camps on HIV, TB and blood donation in various schools and colleges within Dimapur district.

Altogether, six schools namely Daeshin Academy, Dimapur Mission Higher Secondary School, Vidya Bhavan Higher Sec school, St. Edmunds Higher Secondary School, Unity Higher Secondary School, Cornerstone Higher Secondary School and seven colleges namely Tetso College, Cornerstone College, Unity College, MGM College, JN Aier college, Salesian College, Bosco College of Teachers Education were covered under the 3rd phase of awareness campaign, a DIPR report stated.

The campaign also included competitions on the three themes of HIV, TB and Blood donation for the schools and colleges. In the school category, the competitions were on ‘Paint your thought’ (face painting/ mask painting) and ‘Voice your thought’ (spoken word competition), while in the college level, the competitions were on ‘Publicise your thought’ (poster making) and ‘Film your thought’ (short video/ documentary.

Report stated that a total of 536 adolescents and 701 youth were sensitised on HIV, TB and blood donation through an intensified awareness campaign.

It stated that results of the competitions were declared on March 25 after screening all the entries. Prizes were given away by the chief medical officer (CMO) of Dimapur as the special guest. It added that the organisers have also felicitated the district committee members for their efforts towards successful completion of the entire awareness campaign.

The awareness campaign was initiated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, government of India on the theme “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” commemorating 75 years of India’s Independence.
