Kohima, Nov. 25 (EMN): A new complex to house Oking Hospital & Research Clinic, in Kohima, has been inaugurated by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
Congratulating Oking’s management, Neiphiu Rio said that the state was fortunate to have a ‘world class hospital equipped with modern health facilities in the service of the people.’ He said that the growth of the hospital from a humble beginning to becoming a major public service agency showed the commitment and dedication of the staff and the management. He urged the management of the hospital to continue rendering dedicated service to the sick.
Rio also remarked that the Nagaland government was aware of the problems being faced by the state in the health sector. He assured that the government will partner with private hospitals and give assistance to improving healthcare in the state.

The managing director of Oking Hospital, Dr. Vikethonyü Kesiezie said in his keynote address that the event was a proud moment for the institution. The hospital was built with the aim to provide ‘world class treatment with modern facilities’ to patients, he said. He said that the hospital was preparing more advanced facilities like robot-assisted surgeries in the future. Besides, he announced the hospital management’s plans to introduce BSc Nursing course and postgraduate studies.
The new complex was dedicated by Rev. Keviyakielie Linyü.

The medical institution started as a full-fledged hospital in the year 1996. Oking Hospital and Research Clinic has now modern health facilities that include five operation theatres. It is also the first hospital in the Northeast to be equipped with glass operating room, which is an antimicrobial protection facility. The new hospital complex has 16-beds, air-filtered ICU and a four-bed high dependency unit with endoscopy and ESWL.
