IMPHAL — An 18-member delegation of the North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), an umbrella body of various student unions in the region, reached Manipur to meet the violence-affected communities and leaders of civil society organisations.
The 18-member delegation consists of representatives from the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), the Tripura Students’ Federation (TSF), the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and the Garo Students’ Union (GSU).
On their arrival at Imphal international airport, Chief Adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya said, ‘we are here to pass a strong message of peace and harmony’.
‘We will meet all the people. We will meet the civil society of Meitei and Kuki communities because we are here on behalf of the people of Northeast to create a goodwill among the people of Manipur,’ Samujjal said.
Sharing a similar sentiment, NESO Chairman Samuel B Jyrwa said that the visit was aimed at promoting peace and tranquility among the different sections of the society who have been living in Manipur for many years.
The NESO team will be visiting the relief camps at Akampat in Imphal East district, Moirang in Bishnupur district and Churachandpur town.
