In solidarity with the victims of the massive earthquake in Nepal that ravaged the nation earlier in April this year, the Nepali Baptist Church of Kohima on Monday conducted a special prayer service and a candlelight memorial in the premises of the church in Midland in the capital town.
The service was led by Associate Pastor of the church Surjay Sapkota. The service prayed for the peace of the souls claimed by the earthquake; bereaved families mourning their loss, and retrieval of bodies still under debris, and swift relief materials to the needy. The church also prayed that there would be no epidemic in the country following the catastrophe.
The congregation also prayed for doctors and medical personnel, and all those engaged in relief works, and the Government of Nepal. Prayers were also made for the victims of earthquake in India. Hundreds of Nepali believers and well-wishers joined the service.
The service culminated with lit candles as a mark of remembrance and solidarity.
