DIMAPUR — North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) conducted a five-day orientation for new batch of MSW and BSW at Peace Centre, Chümoukedima, which concluded on July 18.

An update from NEISSR stated that the five-day orientation programme consisted of demonstration, other institutional academic programmes and street play conducted by Kilangtemsu Imsong.

The comprehensive orientation programme was aimed at familiarising the newcomers with the institute’s academic, cultural and social environment by providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to start their academic journey in NEISSR on a positive note.

“This longstanding tradition at NEISSR, serves as an essential platform also to introduce students to the institute’s vision, mission, core values, academic programmes, best practices and student services. It also offers an opportunity for the incoming students to interact with faculty members, staff and fellow classmates, fostering a sense of community and belongingness,” the statement read.

Delivering the welcome address at the inaugural programme, NEISSR principal, Dr. Fr. CP Anto, has emphasised on the institute’s commitment in providing an enriching and supportive educational experience. He has particularly stressed on setting a goal, focusing on knowledge accumulation and experiential learning skills to achieve one’s dream.

He added that the entire course has been set to capacitate the students in order to address the contemporary social issues, find solutions and to resolve them through social analysis and techniques.

Rev. Fr. Lawrence Khing, vice principal, has highlighted on the best practices of NEISSR  such as Sarvodaya, professional progressive circle, buddy system, remedial class, dual faculty etc., to attain the motto “Excel in knowledge and service.”

Dr. Toli H Kiba, assistant professor, has enlightened the students on the culture of NEISSR in order to kick off the new academic year on a value based positive note.

Report added that Sr. Resmy, programme coordinator, led in various ice breaking sessions, interactive sessions and group activities to enable the students develop their competencies.
