Nean Dimapur launches drop-in-centre

Dimapur, March 16 (EMN): A combined alcoholics anonymous (AA) meeting was jointly organised by the North East Artist Network (Nean) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Ao Church Diphupar, on March 15, a press statement informed on Monday.

The meeting, which was held at Stone Park, NEZCC Dimapur, commemorated the launch of Nean Dimapur’s drop-in-centre (DiC) alcoholics.

Nean in-charge Toshi Jamir highlighted the vision of Nean and services provided at the DiC. Taka Jamir, AA convenor, shared about “how AA came into being, their objectives, programmes and activities undertaken by the group,”

Jamir lamented on the lack of support and services for alcoholics and thanked Ao Church, Dipuphar for organising detoxification camps through which many alcoholics were reformed, read the statement.

Life transformation camp, a detoxification camp was first organised by the Ao Baptist Church, Diphupar in 2018 where 29 alcoholics participated in the camp. The second such camp was held in 2019 with 18 alcoholics. A total of 47 people gave up alcohol through this initiative whereas six of them were inducted as choir members, two as stewards and one evangelistic committee member by the church, it informed.

An interaction session between the Nean officials and AA group was also held, wherein AA members shared their experiences on how they joined the group, the outcome, grievances, struggles and testimonies, it read.
