NDRF organises plantation drive in Chiechama village

Dimapur, July 1 (EMN): As part of its mission to plant one lakh trees, the Regional Response Centre (RRC) of the 12th National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Chiechama, in collaboration with Fire and Emergency Service and Chiechama Village Youth Organisation (CVYO), undertook a plantation drive from the National Highway-2 to Chiethu Airport (6 km) on June 30.

Speaking at a brief function, deputy commandant of 12th NDRF, P Nupajao Singh, stated that the purpose of organising the event was to protect the surrounding environment by planting more trees, an update from Fire and Emergency Services stated.

Referring to its motto “Saving lives and beyond,” he stressed that organising plantation drive could save lives by saving the environment. He also informed that 12th NDRF has set a mission to plant one lakh trees. He further shared about mitigation of disaster, technique and timely intervention.

Speaking on the purpose and mission of NDRF, the inspector general (IG) of Fire and Emergency Services Neilasa Sopfü shared on the importance of setting up the RRC and Remti (Regional Emergency Management Training Institute) in the state for mitigation and tackling natural disasters and also imparting training, awareness to the public on disaster management.

He also thanked the Chiechama village council and landowners for their cooperation in setting up those institutions.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Chiechama village council Mhalezolie Metha has appreciated the NDRF and Fire and Emergency Services for inviting the village council to be a part of the plantation drive. He has also assured cooperation of the village council even in the days to come.

CVYO president, Keneingusa Rüpreo, chaired the programme while the associate pastor of Chiecha Basa Baptist Church, Neiketou Metsieo, said the invocation prayer.
