IMPHAL — A political delegation of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by its National Youth President, Dheeraj Sharma, along with five other officials called on Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday and apprised of the ground reports of many vulnerable areas they have visited in Manipur.

The five other party leaders are Former-Mayor (Pune), Prashant Jagtap; NCP National General Secretary, Javed Inamdar; NCP Manipur unit president, Ibyoyaima Soram; General Secretary, Gopi Mohan; and NCP Youth President (Pune), Kishore Kamble.

Dheeraj Sharma conveyed that many Internally Displaced persons (IDPs) in Terapur and Imphal East has sought the intervention of Governor to look into the school fees of those students in relief camps studying in private schools and informed that some of the children stopped going to school as they were unable to pay their school fees.

Governor assured that the matter will be forwarded through the Chief Secretary and would resolve at the earliest as no children should be deprived of their educational facilities.

The team further informed that they have distributed many essential relief items like foods, clothes, diapers, sanitary napkins, amongst others for the IDPs and will continue to distribute in various relief camps in the state. The team also handed over essential relief items to the Governor so as to distribute to the IDPs through her office.

Uikey informed the team that a separate Relief Bank Account is opened by the Governor’s Secretariat for providing assistance to the IDPs and those who wish to donate can extend their help.

While appreciating the noble humanitarian services of the visiting team, the governor informed that continuous efforts are in place from her end to reach out to both the Meitei and Kuki communities for bringing amicable solutions.

The governor stated that peace and normalcy can be restored only through non-violence. She appealed to all not to resort to any forms of violence as it will not bring any solution to the prevailing situation in the state.
