DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Board of School Education declared the results for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) compartmental and improvement examinations on Wednesday.

The exams took place from June 11 to the 21st.

Out of 3006 students who appeared for the HSLC compartmental exams, 1225 students passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 40.75%.

In the HSSLC compartmental examination, 492 students passed out of 1227 in the Arts stream, with a pass percentage of 40.10%.

According to an update from the board, in the Commerce stream, 27 students passed out of 62, recording a pass percentage of 43.55%. The Science stream saw 129 students passing the examination out of 414, with a pass percentage of 31.16%.

In the HSLC improvement examination, 74 out of 81 students passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 91.36%. For the HSSLC improvement examination, the Arts stream saw a 62.50% pass percentage with five students passing out of eight. The Science stream had 57 students passing out of 69, reflecting an 82.61% pass rate.

As per the update, the National Credit Framework (NCrF), as envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasises the adoption of Credit Transfer Policy at various stages of education.

Therefore, the NBSE has increased the eligibility criteria for both compartmental and improvement exams from three to four subjects, starting from the 2024 examinations.

Now, students can appear for compartmental exams in a maximum of four subjects they did not clear in the main exams. Those who have passed the main exams but wish to improve their scores can appear for improvement exams in up to four subjects, it said.

Provision for candidates who qualified at the HSLC examination but secured ‘Needs Improvement’ in one subject are also given the opportunity to reappear in the subject at the immediate examination so that they can apply for courses, fulfill certain recruitment criteria and employment where they need to pass in all the subjects they have opted, the board said.

Further, it said that the board will begin distributing result documents to Centre Superintendents from July 18 onwards.
