NBSE announces State Talent Search Examination for Class 9 students
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has announced details of the State Talent Search Examination (STSE) in Mathematics and Science.
The STSE is being conducted in collaboration with Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development (PARAKH), the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi. This initiative is part of the activities planned to commemorate the NBSE’s golden jubilee, according to a DIPR report.
Only students in Class 9 are eligible to participate. The examination will consist of two stages. In stage I, at the district-level, there will be a written examination with questions in multiple-choice type only. PARAKH, NCERT will prepare and moderate all questions.
It directed that all registered institutions must provide 50% of their enrolment in Class IX to the Board on or before August 27. They should complete the form titled “Registration Form for State Talent Search Exam (STSE) in Mathematics and Science to Promote STEM,” which can be downloaded from the Board’s portal at https://nbsenl.edu.in/ under the tab: Downloads → Forms. The completed form should be emailed to stemnbse@gmail.com.
The district-level examination is tentatively scheduled for September 10 at the districts’ headquarters.
In stage II, at the state level, the best students selected from the district level will develop a Science or Technology project aimed at benefiting the community. To develop the project, PARAKH, NCERT, New Delhi, will mentor each state-level participant alongside one teacher from the participant’s institution.
From districts with up to 20 schools, the top three students will be selected. From districts with up to 50 schools, the top five students will be selected. From districts with more than 50 schools, the top seven students will be selected. The state-level examination will be held in October 2024. At the state level, each participant will attend a three-day course in Kohima.
Further details of the two stages of the STSE will be announced at a later date. At the state level, winners will receive cash prizes and certificates, while all participants will be given certificates of participation.
