DIMAPUR — The ‘Clean Election Movement’ of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has condemned the abduction and murder of Imkongchiba Kichu of Chungtia village under 28 Koridang assembly constituency, Mokokchung district.

The body of late Kichu, nephew of JD (U) candidate Chalukumba Ao from 28 Koridang constituency, was recovered in a forested area on February 22.

“We condemn this inhumane act in the strongest term and express our feelings of solidarity with the family of the victim.  Such barbaric act leading to the taking of a young life is morally and ethically unacceptable before the law and against God himself,” stated CEC, NBCC, in a condemnation note.

CEC also termed the murder of Imkongchiba as a murder of democracy, a murder of brotherhood and the worst degradation of Christian morality.

“No right thinking person would resort to murder, and therefore this is evil and satanic. Life is sacred. It is a gift from God and nobody has the right to take life,” it stated.

Appealing to the lawmakers and law-keepers to book the perpetrators at the earliest, the Clean Election Movement also appealed to all political parties to uphold peaceful means and promote conducive atmosphere by restraining themselves from any form of confrontation.
