Dimapur, March 7

A frontal Angami youth organization has issued a stern warning assuring swift action against any individual or organization in its jurisdiction that airs any inflammatory opinion either in the media or the social networking media concerning the tensions in the state following the riot in Dimapur on March 5.
Likewise, district administration and police agencies have been warned of consequences if they are found abetting the entry of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the area. Tension prevails after a mob lynched a person on charges of rape, in Dimapur on March 5. Section 144 CrPC continues to be in force in the commercial center of Nagaland. Major commercial establishments remain shut.
No person has been arrested yet in relation to the March 5 violence in which the rape accused was dragged naked out of a central jail in Dimapur by the mob to the main town and beaten to death.
Abhorring the alleged rape case in Dimapur and the violence that followed leading to the death of two persons, including the persons accused of rape, the Northern Angami Youth Organization (NAYO) issued s statement on Saturday warning of dire and swift action against any person or individual who add to the tensions in any way. Further, no events of any nature associated with the case, including “any movement or event related to legal or illegal migrants organized in Kohima town and adjoining areas of northern Angamis” would be permitted unless the Angami apex organizations approve.
The NAYO has warned “any individual and all unmandated organizations present and functioning under its traditional jurisdiction of swift exemplary customary response if their write ups in the print media and social networking sites are found to have caused any law and order situation or confusion in areas that come under northern Angamis”.
The NAYO’s statement stated that “any movement or event related to legal or illegal migrants organized in Kohima town and adjoining areas of northern Angamis without informing either NAYO, its affiliated unit KVYO and most importantly its apex frontal body AYO will invite consequences.”
Caution to district administration, police
Likewise, the organization has also warned the district administration and the police that there would be consequences if they are found ‘showing leniency to ‘illegal Bangladeshi immigrants or migrants’ who have invalid documents.
The Angami organization cautioned “all uniformed personnel and those in the administration that showing any leniency to IBIs or migrants holding suspicious and invalid documents will invite swift action for which the departments will be held responsible.”
Appeal to Indian citizens in Nagaland: Do not worry
In the context, the Angami organization has assured every Indian citizen living and doing business in Nagaland not to worry but continue with their daily lives with ‘complete peace of mind’ and ensure other members living elsewhere also enjoy the same privilege.
“The organization welcomed and urged all Indian citizens residing and earning a livelihood under its domain to continue doing so with complete peace of mind and at the same time ensure that its members living elsewhere get the same privileges,” the NAYO assured in its press release.
“Assuring all Indian citizens and legal guest of their constitutional rights, NAYO however to ensure that misunderstandings do not arise all concerned are advised to have required documents as prescribed by Indian law,” the organization stated.
