National Boxing Championship: 6 Manipur boxers enter quarters

Imphal, Oct. 30 (EMN):
Six pugilists from the host state Manipur have entered the quarter finals of the ongoing 5th Junior Girls’ National Boxing Championship 2022 in Imphal on Sunday.

They are Anjali Devi Soibam, Supriya Devi Thokchom, Sagar Chanu Mayengbam, Esther Baite, Thoicha Devi Elangbam and Sandhyarani Tensubam.

Two pugilists from Assam – Rempi Pegu and Purabi Daimary – also entered the quarter finals, while Tarah Paya from Arunachal Pradesh also qualified for the quarter finals in the 54 kg category.

The vice president of Boxing Federation of India, Narender Kumar Nirwan, along with Dronacharya awardee boxing coach, L Ibomcha, and functionaries of the Manipur Amateur Boxing Association were present in the third day’s matches.

It may be mentioned that altogether 245 boxers across 28 states are competing in the six-day national boxing event which will conclude on November 2.
