Dimapur, Dec. 12: The Naga Students’ Union Delhi (NSUD) has resolved to organise a mass protest rally at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on December 14 against the Government of Manipur’s decision to create seven new districts and the “illegal arrest” of UNC leaders.

The decision to this effect was taken at an emergency executive council meeting of the Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD) in New Delhi on December 10. The meeting also reaffirmed its stand against the “injudicious decision” taken by the Government of Manipur.

In the meeting, NSUD unanimously resolved to demand immediate release of UNC president Gaidon Kamei and information and publicity secretary SK Stephen. It has also sought the intervention of the Central Government for revoking the decision of the Government of Manipur with regard to the creation of seven new districts in Manipur state.
It reaffirmed that not an inch of the traditional Naga territory shall be transferred to other states or districts without the prior permission and consent of the people, adding the legislative and executive decision of the state machinery should not disrupt and infringe upon the long established rights and wishes of the people.

The NSUD urged the Government of India to sincerely address and honour the recently signed Peace Accord between the NSCN and the Government of India on August 3, 2015 so as to resolve once and forever the pending Indo-Naga issue.

It further warned that the Government of Manipur will be held solely responsible in case of any repercussions that might arise for failing to address these demands.

It pointed out that the forceful creation of the new districts in Manipur without the consent of the Nagas clearly violates the series of Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) signed between the Government of Manipur and the Naga people.
