Nagaland win 6 medals at inter-state badminton championship

DIMAPUR — Nagaland was represented by 23 players (12 girls and 11 boys) and two officials (Tajenkaba Ao, coach and R Thsanso Yim, manager) in the recently concluded Yonex Sunrise North East Zone Inter-State Badminton Championship 2024, in which the state won one gold, two silver, and three bronze medals.

It was held in Guwahati from September 7 to the 10th, and the tournament featured team championships and open categories (singles and doubles) for both senior and junior players, according to an update.

In the team championship (women) category, the team secured the bronze medal. In the women’s doubles event, Leimapokpam Diana and Huidrom Chanu Vilinda also earned the bronze medal.

The mixed doubles (senior) category saw Peramrisi Zeliang and Debahuti Lahon earning the silver medal.

In the Under-19 boys singles, N Yohenba Singh won the gold medal.

The Under-19 boys doubles event saw Nchatu Herie and Bovi K Chishi winning the bronze medal. In the Under-19 girls doubles, A Ponlih Konyak and Imlikumla earned the silver medal.
