Nagaland ULB election: NSCW congratulates women candidates
DIMPAUR — The chairperson and members of the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) have congratulated all the 238 women who filed their nominations for the upcoming urban local body (ULB) election under the 33% reservation policy.
In a press release, the NSCW informed that the ULB election, scheduled for June 26, marks the first implementation of women reservation after a 20-year hiatus.
“Your (women) participation is a testament to your courage and dedication to public service,” the commission said.
It also expressed gratitude to the Government of Nagaland and the people, especially the male counterpart, for their unwavering support and cooperation in “facilitating this significant move.”
“By creating opportunities for women to engage actively in political spheres, we are collectively taking monumental steps towards empowering the women of our state and fostering a more inclusive political landscape,” the NSCW said.
“Your commitment is inspiring, and we wish you all success in your political endeavours,” it added.
