Dimapur, April 29 (EMN): The ten-day online video conferencing training on basic course in screenplay writing conducted by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), in collaboration with the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), Kohima, concluded at the IPR directorate on April 29.

Speaking at the valedictory function, the IPR deputy director, Siewatho Nyusou, has expressed gratitude to FTII for conducting the training and its associate professor, Ashwin B Sonone, for coordinating the programme. He also thanked Sudipto Acharyya, trainer of the course, for imparting invaluable knowledge and skills to the participants. Nyusou also appreciated the participants for their actively participation during the course of the training.

The IPR joint director, Asangla Imsong, mentioned that FTII has decided to take forward the cause of film education by conducting online short courses free of cost for scheduled tribes participants residing in the state as part of the countrywide celebrations under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Stating that the training on smartphone film making was successfully conducted in January last, she informed that courses on screen acting and film appreciation would be conducted in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the course coordinator, Ashwin B Sonone, has praised the commendable performance made by the participants during the training and added that state has set a very high benchmark, while the trainer of the course, Sudipto Acharyya, has expressed satisfaction at the progress made by the participants. Acharyya further encouraged them to continue writing, read books and watch films.

Sophy Lasuh, a documentary filmmaker, remarked that the training has taught her to think like a writer and not as an individual. She added that it has also taught her to explore possibilities using doubt and not evidence.

Sekulu Nyekha, a freelancer, stated that the training was very practical and enabled her to learn a lot and also meet film makers from the state.

A DIPR report stated that the participants were taught on various aspects of screenplay writing, composition, usage of narrative tools and to write story in cinematic language. They were also taught to use irony, suspense and thrill in their writings.
